CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Former Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry has joined Virginia as an assistant, head coach Ryan Odom announced on Thursday.

Autry will fill the position vacated by former Associate Head Coach Griff Aldrich, who accepted the position of Head Coach of Pepperdine last week.

“His integrity, extensive experience, commitment to player development and knowledge of the game make him an invaluable addition to our program.” Odom said in the press release.

Autry joins the Cavaliers after spending the past three seasons as head coach of Syracuse, where he played from 1990-1994.  As head coach of the Orange, he posted a record of 49-48. He had previously spent 12 years on the staff for his predecessor, Jim Boeheim, at Syracuse, helping the Orange reach the Final Four in 2013 and 2016. Before that, Autry and Odom previously worked together on the staff of Seth Greenberg at Virginia Tech from the 2008 through 2010.

“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Odom and the Virginia men’s basketball program,” Autry said in the release
