CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Tom Sox head coach Randy Tomlin will be back for another season at the helm of the 2024 Valley League Champions, the team announced on Thursday.
The former Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher was the Coach of the Year in the Valley League in the 2024 campaign. He is the seventh coach in the 11-year history of the program, and only the second to coach the team for multiple seasons.
The Tom Sox fell to the Strasburg Express in the 2025 Valley League Championship Series, having performed in the clutch following a roller coaster regular season that saw the Sox open with the worst 12-game stretch in franchise history. All-in-all, the Sox had 16 comeback wins in 2025, four of which ended in walk-offs.
“The goal when you start the season is to say ‘Hey, we’re going to win a championship,” Tomlin wrote in the Tom Sox’s release, “but it’s a day-to-day process that you have to work on.”
The Tom Sox will play their 2026 home games at CHO Airport Field at Charlottesville High School on Melbourne Road.
