CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Virginia Athletics Foundation has announced a recent commitment of $1 million for the baseball, softball, and women’s golf programs at the University of Virginia from the family of one of Virginia’s former long-serving administrators.

Pat Hogan, former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at UVA, and his wife Sharon, have committed $500,000 to Virginia baseball’s scholarship fund, and $500,000 to the funds of softball and women’s golf.

“These programs are led by amazing coaches who represent all that we admire and love about UVA athletics,” said the Hogans in a statement.

With Virginia athletics’ commitment to matching gifts they receive, a new partial scholarship can now be formed to support a student athlete for softball or women’s golf.

The first pitch of the Virginia baseball season is set for Feb. 13 at Disharoon Park against Wagner at 3 p.m. UVA’s softball season begins one week earlier at the Kickin’ Chicken Classic in Conway, South Carolina against Arkansas at 10 a.m.
