CROZET (WINA) – While all Albemarle County after school activities are cancelled unless schools sent notice to their communities that an event or events are happening, the Albemarle at Western Albemarle basketball games will be played this afternoon into the evening. Roads have thawed out this afternoon taking the treachery out of driving, and the start times for both the girls’ and boys’ varsity games have been moved up. The girls will tip off at 4:30pm, and the boys 6pm. The start times are moved from the original 6:15 and 7:45.
Afternoon temperatures have thawed roads enough to make it so schools have the “green light” to do extracurriculars if they wish to do so. But that is to the individual schools’ discretion whether to hold events or not. The guidance from the central office asks the schools in making these considerations to be mindful of the anticipated drop in temperatures tonight.
The WINA Accuweather forecast does have temps dropping back below freezing tonight, and not emerge over freezing until Sunday. The Accuweather hourly indicates we’ll be back around freezing around 9 tonight.
