CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Charlottesville area from 1 a.m. Tuesday until noon.
Mixed precipitation expected, with a majority expected in the form of freezing rain.
Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch, with ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch, with upwards of two tenths of an inch possible on the higher ridges.
Plan on slippery road conditions that could impact the Tuesday morning commute.
Precipitation is expected to overspread the area after midnight, starting briefly as snow before mixing with and changing over to sleet and freezing rain.
In Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive is closed Monday between mile marker 105 at south entrance at Rockfish Gap and mile marker 66 at Swift Run Gap.
The drive is also closed from the northern entrance between mile marker 0 at the Front Royal entrance to mile marker 31 at Thornton Gap.
