CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- An anonymous donor has agreed to match every dollar given to the Baseball Enhancement Fund and baseball current-use scholarship growth up to $1 million, the Virginia Athletics Foundation announced Tuesday.
“[The gift]… it’s an invitation…” said Kevin Miller, Executive Director & Deputy Athletics Director for VAF, said in a release. “The donor is challenging all of us in the Virginia baseball family to rise together and match their support by the start of the season.”
Virginia baseball has drawn many headlines due to its transfer additions in the offseason as new coach Chris Pollard, who previously coached at Duke, continues to rebuild the program following former coach Brian O’Connor’s departure for Mississippi State.
“What a tremendous opportunity that this matching gift provides,” Pollard said in a statement. “I hope this [matching gift] serves as an exciting motivation to everyone in the UVA baseball family.”
The Hoos open their 2026 season with a three-game series against Wagner, starting Friday, Feb. 13 at Disharoon Park.
