CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A day after the Greene County Sheriff announced that popular Ruckersville restaurant Miranda’s Grill would have its equipment seized and auctioned due to delinquent taxes, the establishment posted on its Facebook page that it is still open for business – and plans to stay open.

The sheriff’s department announced an Oct. 24 sale of restaurant equipment, kitchen appliances, prep tables and furniture at 8837 Seminole Trail in Ruckersville, indicating the property would be “seized under a lawful Distress/Seizure Warrant for Enforcement of Delinquent Taxes issued by order of the Treasurer of Greene County.”

Wednesday morning, Miranda’s posted on Facebook, “We are open. Come grab a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner.”

Greene Co. Deputy Jamie Akers confirmed to Cville Right Now that the restaurant “can operate normally” until 10 a.m. on Oct. 24.

Owner Miranda Durrer-Davis told Cville Right Now on Wednesday morning that she planned to pay her outstanding tax bill before that deadline and the restaurant would stay open.

“The matter is being handled and will be resolved by next Friday,” owner Miranda Durrer-Davis told Cville Right Now on Wednesday.

Miranda’s Grill is in the Greene Countryside Square strip mall off of Route 29. Another local restaurant in that strip mall, Vinny’s New York Pizza Co. closed earlier this month.

Both restaurants’ owners were in legal disputes over rent with property owner Greene Countryside Square LLC, according to court records, and were facing eviction writs.
