CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A bomb threat Friday morning forced the evacuation of Central Virginia Christian School in Dillwyn, according to emergency text messages sent to parents at 9:13 a.m.
“A bomb threat was just called into CVCS,” the text said. “All students here today have been quickly and safely evacuated to (a nearby location). Police are on scene.”
About 30 minutes later parents received a second text alert asking them to pick up their children and including details of where and how that should be done. By noon, the school informed parents that its campus had been “cleared by bomb sniffing dogs.”
Students were able to return to the building to pick up backpacks between 12:30 and 2 p.m.
CVCS opened in 2004 for kindergarten students and now serves grades K-10. It plans to add grade 11 in 2026 and grade 12 in 2027, according to its website.
