CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia basketball opens and closes ACC play against rival Virginia Tech.

The conference released teams’ schedules on Tuesday afternoon, and the Cavaliers – playing their first season under new coach Ryan Odom – open league play in Blacksburg against the Hokies, on either Dec. 30 or 31.

They wrap up their ACC slate on March 7 at home against Tech.

In between, the schedule includes three sets of back-to-back road games, a game at Duke and Cameron Indoor on Feb. 28, and Odom’s first game against Wake Forest, the program his father coached from 1989 to 2001.

After the ACC opener against Tech, UVA plays at N.C. State (Jan. 3), then hosts Cal (Jan. 6 or 7) and Stanford (Jan. 10), plays at Louisville (Jan. 13 or 14) and at SMU (Jan. 17).

It returns home to host North Carolina (Jan. 24), then travels to Notre Dame (Jan. 27 or 28) and Boston College Jan. 31.

In February, the Cavaliers host Syracuse (Feb. 7), visit Florida State (Feb. 10 or 11) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 17 or 18), then return home for games against Miami (Feb. 21) and N.C. State (Feb. 24 or 25).

The regular season wraps up with three straight intriguing matchups, starting with Odom’s first trip as a head coach to Duke on Feb. 28.

On March 3 or 4, he’ll lead UVA against Wake Forest in Charlottesville, before the second Hokies matchup.
