CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Mike Pruitt, current Scottsville supervisor on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors announced his candidacy for the 5th District Congressional Seat 10 days ago.

In that time, according to a campaign release, the Navy veteran has an amount that reportedly exceeds $100,000 for his campaign.  The release further details that 90% of the contributions to the campaign in that time have come donations of $100 dollars or less.

Pruitt’s primary opponent, Army veteran Paul Riley, out of Crozet, has yet to disclose the amount his campaign has raised since announcing his run on July 2.

The winner of the Democratic primary will look to unseat incumbent John McGuire. McGuire will have to win his own primary before he takes on a Democratic challenger.

Former occupant of the seat Bob Good, the one-time head of the House Freedom Caucus, is running against McGuire, the man who he beat in 2024 after a recount.
