CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Virginia State’s Police 3A Task Force executed a pair of search warrants in the city on Thursday afternoon and early evening.
The first was in the area of the 1200 block of Cherry Avenue, according to a release from the Charlottesville Police Department. The second warrant was for a building located at the 600 block of 6th Street SE. No further details were available.
The 3A Task Force was recently behind the recovery of a firearm along with over 6000 fentanyl pills at residence in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue on the 17th of July. Jatavious Taymoze Turner-Jones was taken into custody and charged with a narcotics violation: attempted possession with intent to distribute, in connection to the items found in the home.
Virginia State Police teamed up with CPD to make that arrest. Charlottesville Police, Albemarle County Police, and University of Virginia Police have coordinated frequently with both Virginia State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After the release of the ACPD’s mid-year crime report, Colonel Sean Reeves took the time to highlight his department’s work alongside both the other two local law enforcement agencies, and partners at the federal and state level.
“I attribute [the downward trends in crime] that to our collaboration with not just our local law enforcement partners” Colonel Reeves said, “But our state and federal law enforcement partners as well.”
“This crime travels,” said Charlottesville Commonwealth’s attorney Joe Platania on the city’s similar collaboration. “It’s a back and forth, and we’re trying to communicate so that we’re all on the same page with identifying and prioritizing what these folks are doing.”
Reeves and Platania both appeared on WINA Morning News.
