CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A DNA match resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old Louisa man accused of a home invasion robbery off Stony Point Road nearly two years ago.
Jahazy R. Veney faces three counts, including burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, for an alleged armed invasion August 11, 2023. Albemarle Police responded to the scene that day, and DNA evidence was collected as part of the investigation. The samples were sent to the Department of Forensic Science (DFS) for analysis, and, on July 17, 2025, DFS returned a positive match
Albemarle Criminal Investigations Capt. Darrell Byers said this case demonstrates the critical role proper evidence collection plays in solving violent crimes.
“We’re proud of the persistent efforts by our investigators and grateful for the support of our partners at DFS,” Byers said.
