CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) A Norfolk Southern train of approximately 96 cars, some of them carrying hydrochloric acid, derailed Monday about a mile and a half north of Dooms Crossing Road in Augusta County, according to the Virginia State Police.

The derailment occurred shortly before 2 p.m., per a VSP release, and involved 15 of the trains cars, seven of which were carrying hydrochloric acid, a strong, corrosive agent. There are no leaks of hazardous material and no injuries, according to the VSP.

The crash remains under investigation. Norfolk Southern officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
