CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Summer swim season starts in the city and county as the facilities open this weekend throughout the summer. However, Walnut Creek in Albemarle County is an exception as they’ll be closed because of a harmful algae bloom until further notice. But at Chris Greene Lake and Mint Springs Valley, swimming will be available from 10 am to 6 pm each day, including Memorial Day. The lakes will also be open the following weekend, Saturday and Sunday with the same hours.
The city’s splashpads opened last weekend, and all outdoor pool facilities open Saturday. The Swordfish Swim Team has registration open with practices beginning Tuesday.
