MADISON, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State Police say one person is dead and several others injured, though none life-threatening, in a Sunday afternoon multi-vehicle crash on Route 29 just south of the Town of Madison. Sgt. Brent Coffey reports four vehicles were traveling south shortly before 5 Sunday afternoon on Seminole Trail when slowing and stopping for a red light at Wolftown-Hood Road in Madison County. A fifth vehicle was unable to stop and rear-ended one of the vehicles, which set off a chain reaction crash involving all five vehicles.
There is one confirmed fatality, but Sgt. Coffey does not have information at this time which vehicle that individual was in. Several others in the array of vehicles were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He will update the information as he receives it.
