CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Schools has named Jay Thomas — a former 8-year principal at Albemarle High School who’s spent the last 8 years as the county’s Executive Director of Secondary Education — as the principal of the new Center One opening next school year. County School Board Chair Kate Acuff says the new centers under construction or construction about to begin are less expensive to build in addressing capacity issues in county high schools. Center One will offer math, science, and engineering — or what they call MESA; health sciences; IT; security; communications; and hospitality focuses. Click here for the entire ACPS release.
