Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): Virginia Third-year Shortstop Jade Hylton has been hammering the ball in the 2025 season, notching 11 homeruns during this campaign.  #11 went sailing over the fence in Lynchburg last night as the Hoos were locked in battle with the Liberty Flames.

One homerun from each team knotted the game up early, before Liberty grabbed a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice fly following some Virginia fielding errors.  After Virginia tied the game in the sixth, Hylton went deep in the top of the 7th to give the Hoos a 3-2 lead.  Unfortunately, it would not hold, as the Flames walked it off in the bottom of the frame with a double that followed back-to-back hit-by-pitches.

Martinsville native Hylton, following her blast, ties the program record of 35 set by UVA softball legend Sara Larquier back at the turn of the century.  The infielder hit 10 homeruns in the 2022-23 season, and 14 in her sophomore campaign while playing in 54 games.  With 12 games to play last season’s mark just two homeruns away, she looks poised to take her place atop the all-time homerun leaderboard before this season is out.
