CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Fresh off a Season 22 renewal, Virginia Beach native, Class of ’94 UVA grad, and Grey’s Anatomy star Jason Winston George will be the Valedictory speaker for Finals Weekend May 16-through-18. Besides playing Dr. Ben Warren on the wildly successful show for 15 years, a character he told a BET Talks interview last month was only supposed to be on for three or four episodes and then leave, he is an outspoken activist in SAG/AFTRA. He also told BET he does a lot of anti-gun violence work because it disproportionately affects black community. He’ll speak at JPJ May 16 at 3:30.
UVA also announced Rare Book School director and English professor since 2009, Michael Suarez, will be the Saturday, May 17 keynote final exercises speaker. Retiring Dean of Students Cedric Rucker will speak at Sunday, May 18 exercises.
