CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Virginia Basketball has landed its first player commitment under new head coach Ryan Odom with the addition of 6’8” forward Silas Barksdale.
Barksdale, a standout from Newport News, announced his decision Wednesday afternoon on X, writing, “hadda switch it up a little #committed.” He initially committed to play for Odom at VCU before reopening his recruitment following Odom’s move to UVA.
The versatile forward is expected to contribute at either the power forward or center position. He will join former St. Anne’s-Belfield guard Chance Mallory in the Cavaliers’ incoming freshman class, as Odom continues to build out his first roster in Charlottesville.
