Charlottesville, VA (virginiasports.com): On the back of a year that saw her ever ACC tournament win, and Virginia’s first since 2019, Virginia Women’s Basketball Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton has added former Houston head coach Ronald Hughey to her staff as the newest assistant coach.
Hughey was the leader of a successful Houston program for 11 years and has experience on staff at other prestigious programs such as UCF, South Carolina, and Texas.
He also led Houston to four appearances in the WNIT from 2014-2025.
Speaking after his appointment, Virginia’s newest AC said he was “…extremely grateful and excited that Amaka has blessed me with such a fabulous opportunity to be a part of her outstanding staff at the prestigious University of Virginia…” Virginia went 17-15 overall in the 2024-25 season.
