Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville’s Business Women’s Round Table (BWRT) is set to honor outstanding women in business and community service at the Women of Excellence Awards luncheon this Thursday. Sponsored by Dr. Sarah Stombaugh, physician owner and founder of Sarah Stombaugh, MD Personalized Weight Loss, the event highlights influential women in the region. “Being involved in the community is really important to me,” said Dr. Stambaugh on Morning News. “I have a lot of female patients, and I want to be able to support many of them who are actually business owners themselves, and so being able to support the Business Women’s Round Table is an excellent way to give back to the community.”

BWRT, a program within the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, meets monthly to provide networking opportunities, workshops, and support for women in business. Nadirah Muhammad, a member of the Executive Council, emphasized the event’s significance. “Charlottesville specifically is such a tight-knit community, and the way that we grow tighter and grow stronger is by supporting each other, especially as businesswomen,” she said. The selection process for the awards includes a thorough review of nominations by the council, ensuring that honorees truly reflect excellence in entrepreneurship, leadership, and service.

The Women of Excellence Awards luncheon coincides with Women’s History Month, making it an even more meaningful celebration. The event will recognize this year’s honorees, whose names have already been announced. “It’s always tough, but it’s always such a great time to select our winners,” Muhammad added. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, with attendees gathering to support and honor the contributions of women across the Charlottesville community.
