CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- The Virginia Cavaliers entered a showdown with the nation’s top ranked team for the 99th all time meeting with optimism that they could show the country they still belonged among the elite in Men’s Lacrosse this season. However, Maryland jumped on the Hoos early scoring the first 5 goals of the game, but Virginia called an early timeout and Lars Tiffany’s team responded with a 4-0 run of their own to enter the half trailing by one goal 5-4. In the second half, Maryland’s experience and depth proved to be the difference as they outscored Virginia 2-1 in the third quarter and then really pulled away in the fourth outscoring the Hoos 5-1 to put the game away. With the loss, UVA falls to 3-4 on the season, and will next face the University of Albany on Tuesday at 4p.m. and the game will be carried live on WINA and streamed at Cvillerightnow.com.
