CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Charlottesville Police officers were flagged down Tuesday night around 9:20 p.m. for an unconscious person lying in the roadway near 4th Street NW at Preston Avenue.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, the individual had been involved in an altercation and sustained injuries related to the assault. The subject was transported to UVA Hospital for treatment.

As of late Tuesday evening, 4th Street NW near Preston Avenue remained closed while officers investigated the scene. Police have not released additional information about the individual or any suspects at this time.
