Richmond, VA (cvillerightnow.com): Sonia LaMonica’s Virginia Women’s Lacrosse team headed up Interstate 64 and brought down the Richmond Spiders by five goals, 14-9 was the score.  Mel Josephson and her defense stood strong on the backline, and the veteran netminder made eight saves against the arachnid attack.  Madison Alaimo and Jenna DiNardo each notched three goals in the contest, with Alaimo adding a total of six points courtesy of three assists on her tally.  Despite a scary second half that saw the Spiders pull within two goals of the Hoos, Virginia closed on a high note and never relinquished the lead through four quarters of play.   

 Coach LaMonica on the win against Richmond “…Being an in-state rival, they’re going to give us their best game, and they did tonight… this is a great win and great prep as we go into a big conference game on Saturday.”  A big conference game it is coming up this weekend as #2 North Carolina will host the Hoos on Saturday at 2:30 PM.  The game is streaming on ACCNX.
