CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., the former University of Virginia student who pleaded guilty to killing three classmates and injuring two others in 2022, will not be sentenced next month as scheduled.

Jones was scheduled to be sentenced at the end of a four-day hearing beginning on February 4. Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Hingeley has told The Daily Progress that the sentencing will now take place on November 17, 2025. He declined to give the reason.

Jones pleaded guilty to fatally shooting Cavalier football players Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry on the night of November 13, 2022. He also injured football player Mike Hollins and second-year student Marlee Morgan.

The delay will apparently halt the publication of a report detailing the triple murder. The university has stated that it will not release the report until after sentencing.
