RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/CBS6) – The City of Richmond water crisis has claimed the job of the city’s Department of Public Utilities director. April Bingham submitted her immediate resignation Wednesday, and Anthony “Scott” Morris is now the interim director. CBS6 has raised questions about Bingham’s blaming of the water outage solely on the power outage caused by the January 6 winter storm at the plant. Water service was out, and has been recently spotty, since the power outage along with failing backup systems.
CBS6 notes Bingham did not respond to concerns the EPA expressed about the water treatment plant in 2022 until January 3 of this year. Click here for the CBS6 story.
