Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Yesterday on Cville Right Now Live, education analyst and CEO of Clayborne Test Prep and Tutoring, Lee Elberson, joined to offer valuable advice for parents and students on how to make the most of a snow day.
“It’s a great opportunity for parents and students to come up with a plan to get caught up,” Elberson said. “It’s very rare that a student feels 100% on top of their game, especially coming off of a break like this.” He added that taking small, focused steps toward getting organized can make a big difference in easing stress and staying on track.
Elberson also highlighted resources like the Virginia Department of Education’s family support page, which provides grade-level materials for parents looking to help their children catch up in subjects like math, science, and reading.
Beyond productivity, Elberson encouraged a balanced approach to snow days, allowing time for both work and play. “The child feels like they’ve been productive, they will enjoy their break more when they go out to play on the sleds,” he added.
Elberson also touched on the new cell phone-free classroom initiative going into effect this year. He explained how the policy aims to create a more focused learning environment and reduce distractions, emphasizing the benefits it offers for both students and teachers.
