PALMYRA, VA (AP) – Voters in central and northern Virginia are going to the polls today in special elections to fill two vacancies in the state senate and an open seat in the House of Delegates. Republican Luther Cifers is up against Democrat Jack Trammell in a battle to succeed U.S. Rep. John McGuire in the 10th state Senate District. That district includes all of Fluvanna and Buckingham counties as well as part of Louisa County.

Republican Tumay Harding and Democrat Del. Kannan Srinivasan are vying to succeed a former state senator who was elected in November to the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrat JJ Singh and Republican Ram Venkatachalam are racing to replace Srinivasan, who vacated his House of Delegates seat.
