CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Today’s (Friday the last day of work for U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, Chris Kavanaugh. He announced back in August he’d be stepping down by the end of the year after his wife, Jasmone Yoon, was selected as a U.S. District Court Judge in Charlottesville. She was sworn in on the bench in September, and any cases in which the United States has been a party, including criminal matters, has been assigned to other judges within the Western District. As of 11:59pm, Kavanaugh is stepping away after serving three years in which a USDOJ release says he played a key role in national security and violent crime prevention, that included efforts to spearhead efforts to combat foreign influence and strengthen Crime Gun Intelligence.
