RICHMOND (WINA) – Virginia’s junior U.S. Senator Tim Kaine has announced after an economic development roundtable in Richmond’s Church Hill that he will seek a third Senate term. He says he loves Virginia, and lives to serve… and there’s still a lot more work to do in the Senate. His most poignant moment last term was when the body failed to overturn Obamacare by a single vote.

Kaine indicated it was never a slam dunk as this is an 8-year decision — 2 years campaigning, and 6 years serving — and that’s a more difficult decision to make at age 63 than 55.

He says there is progress a party-divided Congress can make in regard to mental health needs coming out of COVID, opioid addition reduction strategies, and immigration policy in regard to the workforce.
