CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Despite a challenging season for Virginia Football, two of its standout players have received postseason awards for their exceptional performances in 2024. Wide receiver Malachi Fields was named Offensive Player of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond, a season in which he accumulated 808 receiving yards, averaging 67.3 yards per game. Additionally, Charlottesville native Jonas Sanker was honored as the organization’s Defensive Back of the Year. The UVA safety led the league in solo tackles with 66 and ranked fifth in the ACC in tackles per game with 8.2. This marks the second consecutive year that Sanker has earned the Touchdown Club’s Defensive Back of the Year award.

Both players were also named to the All-ACC team, with Sanker selected as a First-Team defensive back and Fields as a Third-Team wide receiver. This is Sanker’s second year on the All-ACC First Team. Lastly, both players received invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
