Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Simon Davidson of Charlottesville 29 joined Cville Right Now Live to discuss local traditions and Thanksgiving preparations. As the holidays approach, Davidson shared his seasonal rituals and culinary recommendations.
Reflecting on his annual tradition of dining at Duner’s before Thanksgiving, Davidson noted the bittersweet memories tied to the late Chef Will Richey, who left a lasting legacy at the restaurant. “We had a great meal there this past weekend,” Davidson shared. “Christian Kelly, the new owner…has it as good as ever.”
Davidson also revealed his plans for the big feast, which include sourcing a turkey from Stock Provisions, a local butcher he described as “world-class.” He highlighted their commitment to quality and sustainability, saying, “They’re so careful about finding the best products they can… they’re making sure that the farmers that they buy from can make a living.”
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Davidson is ready to bring his signature turkey to a family gathering in the Outer Banks. “Their turkeys, are so amazing that when I make them, and I don’t do anything special with them… I just, you know, put them in the oven,” he joked, adding, “We literally have guests saying like it’s the best turkey they’ve ever had.”
