BRISTOL, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Individuals and households in Southwest Virginia who were affected by Hurricane Helene have one week left to apply for FEMA assistance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is serving those in emergency declaration localities of Bedford, Bland, Carroll, Giles, Grayson, Lee, Montgomery, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe counties, as well as the cities of Galax and Radford.
There are four ways to apply… either by visiting a disaster recovery center linked here; going online to “disasterassistance-dot-gov“; downloading the FEMA mobile app; or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The helpline is available seven days a week in most languages. If you use video relay service, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service.
Assistance may cover temporary housing, home repairs, personal property losses, and other disaster-related needs and the deadline to apply is Monday, December 2
