Augusta County, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): Ken Slack of the Virginia Department of Transportation, along with Jaquelin Dobrin of WHSV, report that there will be traffic monitoring equipment being installed between Afton and Waynesboro exits on Interstate 64.  

The equipment will be installed overnight and cause lane closures in both directions intermittently between the hours of 7:00 PM and 5:30 AM.

 Please be advised if you are heading over the mountain overnight that your travel may be slowed down or necessitate alternate routes.  

This process, according to Slack’s weekly road alert report, will likely take several months but is an important part of safety measures on the mountain.
