CHARLOTTSVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle Police Department conducted a traffic operation on Seminole Trail and Polo Grounds Road on Thursday, October 18, 2024.

What most drivers call a speed trap, which ran from 11am to 3pm, resulted in 75 speeding tickets. The highest speed captured in the 45 mph zone was 76 mph, with 13 of the violations for 20+ over the speed limit.

Starting Monday, Oct 21, the Albemarle PD will start issuing tickets, not warnings, for anyone caught going 10 mph or more over the speed limit in the school zone at Hydraulic Road and Lambs Lane.
