CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Despite a heavy rainy season marked by notable storms, Albemarle County Parks and Rec says work on the eastern entrance and trailhead at Biscuit Run Park has continued throughout the summer and fall. The county says the project encountered challenges, including several days of delays due to rain and the time required for the area to dry sufficiently for construction to continue. Nevertheless, they’re now in the final stages of construction.
The first phase of development will provide access to the 1,200-acre property, as outlined in the Biscuit Run Park Master Plan. This phase includes the establishment of an eastern entrance from Route 20 (Scottsville Road), where visitors will find a trailhead featuring restroom facilities and 75 parking spaces. When the park opens, the county says 4.5 miles of trails will be ready for the community to explore and enjoy.
