CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Tuesday, October 15 is the deadline to register to vote in Virginia and have your ballot counted on Election Day. Lisa Hilgartner with the League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area says a mailed application to a registrar’s office must be postmarked by October 15 or delivered in person by 5pm that day.
However, if you miss the deadline, you can go to your local registrar and register to vote and vote on the same day. That will be a provisional ballot and counted after your legal vote is resolved and counted after Election Day. Right now, you can vote in-person only on weekdays, but started the weekend after next on October 26, there will be Saturday hours.
