CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Paul Davis Jones, a former non-sworn employee of the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD), was sentenced to six months in jail in Charlottesville General District Court by Judge Andrew K. Sneathern. Jones pled guilty to a charge of misdemeanor computer trespass, but his sentence was fully suspended on the condition of 12 months of good behavior.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania and Charlottesville Police Chief Michael Kochis reiterated their commitment to investigating misuse of law enforcement computer networks. “As we have previously informed our community, allegations involving the misuse of law enforcement computer networks will be investigated, charged, and criminally prosecuted when appropriate,” Platania and Kochis stated. They also extended their gratitude to the Virginia State Police for their role in the investigation.
