HENRICO, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Henrico County Government is contesting a post from X social media owner Elon Musk who has reposted a year-old claim of “many local precincts in Henrico County with voter turnouts over 100% from the 2020 election”. Henrico responds “Hi, Elon… the assertion that some Henrico County precincts experienced 100% or greater turnout in the 2020 general election is incorrect.” The post Musk amplified is from numbers calculated by 2020 election denier Seth Keshel who presented a list of precinct numbers appearing in Henrico precincts pushing voting over 100%. He highlights Virginia at that time had absentee ballots not in the precinct numbers, but “in a separate category that could not be traced”.
The county response is, indeed, Virginia used generic ballots for absentee voting that didn’t include precinct info, so “those who voted in-person at their precinct on Election Day, combined with early voters, cannot be determined for the 2020 election”. ThE county post says Henrico’s ballots were counted as a lump sum with just over 110,000 voting absentee, and more than 72,000 voting in-person… adding up to more than 183,000 of nearly 237,000 registered voters who participated, which is roughly 75% overall.
