Elizabeth Agnes Beddow

Elizabeth “Liz” Powell Beddow passed away on September 26, 2024 at the Center for Acute Hospice Care after a short illness. She was born on April 8, 1936 in Nelson County to the late William and Florence Powell. Liz was preceded in death by her brothers William, Clarence, Herbert and David Powell and sisters Carrie Sjostrom, Florence Craig and Charlotte Brock.

Liz lived her whole life in the Charlottesville area. After high school she worked at Miller and Rhoades, Guaranty Bank and A & P grocery store. During this time, she met and married Wayne Beddow and they were together for almost 60 years. Liz and Wayne were members of Hinton Avenue Methodist Church before joining Ivy Creek Methodist Church where they both were very active and sang in the choir.

Liz is survived by her husband Wayne, her daughter Kathy Meadows (Joe), grandchildren Cameron Hall (Sloane), Candice Hall, Chad Hall, Stacy Martin (Nicholas Williamson), Arvin Dorman Jr. and Elizabeth Dorman, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Marshall, sister-in-law Connie Jarman and many loving nieces and nephews. Liz also leaves behind her church family and many friends at Branchlands Independent Living.
