CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia’s Center For Politics has added Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger as its newest Distinguished Scholar for the 2024-25 academic year. Center Director Larry Sabato says his distinction for denying Donald Trump’s demands to find votes for him to win the 2020 Presidential election in Georgia demonstrates his desire to preserve our democratic republic. And he was re-elected in that state despite “unbelievable viciousness from both in and out of Georgia, and the threats and all the rest that comes from Donald Trump and that part of the Republican Party”.

Sabato says like former Representative Liz Cheney and Martin Luther King the 3rd as previous scholars, Raffensperger will teach classes and assist in developing and presenting timely public programming.
