Mrs. Emma Marie Wright Pryor (Ms. Emma), 93, of Charlottesville, gained her wings peacefully on September 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan C. and Cleola M. Wright, siblings; Laura Fleshman, Walter, William and Wilbur Wright and her beloved husband, Deacon Julius Pryor, Jr.
Mrs. Pryor retired from The University of Virginia Hospital (UVa) where she was employed as a Laboratory Technician in the Arthritis Division for 42 years. She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church where her unwavering faith and commitment led her to become a deaconess of the Diaconate Ministry.
Beyond her professional and church commitments, Ms. Emma found joy in gardening, baking and capturing God’s beauty through photography. She was known for her generous spirit and infectious laughter as she inspired those around her to embrace kindness and generosity.
Ms. Emma leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, four devoted children: Charles (Shelly), Laura, Anthony (Reva) and Rodney (Tamara). Additionally, she is survived by sixteen grandchildren, a multitude of great grandchildren, her beloved brother, Nathaniel C. Wright, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
