CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATE, 9/27/24: Due to ongoing severe weather and flooding on the Rivanna Trail, the Loop de Ville Festival has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 6th.

The festival will feature a full day of guided group hikes, walks, runs, and bike rides on the Rivanna Trail, followed by an after-party and outdoor concert with food, live music, and activities.

Charlottesville and Albemarle County, proud co-sponsors, will be at the start/finish line at Rivanna River Company (1520 East High Street), where participants can stop by for free swag and support.

PREVIOUSLY: This weekend, the Rivanna Trails Foundation is hosting the annual Loop de ‘Ville Festival, inviting locals to explore the city’s 20-mile loop. The event, open to walkers, runners, and bikers, highlights the Rivanna Trail, a hidden gem in Charlottesville.

“Loop de ‘Ville is our annual trail festival…we’ve been doing it in some fashion for almost 30 years,” said volunteer organizer Allie Hill, emphasizing its evolution into a broader community event. The festival aims to familiarize residents with the trail, with extra signage and guides to ensure participants can enjoy the experience without getting lost. “We have 200 signs we are putting up for this event around the loop so that way when people get to one of those road sections, they will not get lost.”

The festival offers more than just outdoor activities—there’s a post-event concert featuring DJW and Ebony Groove, plus food trucks and drinks. In addition, the event includes a raffle supporting the Rivanna Trails Trailblazers program, which provides job training for local youth.
