CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – First day of early voting, and ballots look very similar in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The exceptions are Albemarle’s Rio District where there’s a special School Board election between Jim E. Dillenbeck and Chuck C. Pace to finish the term of departed, now Delegate, Katrina Callsen ending December 31, 2025. Also, the Town of Scottsville has a Mayor’s election between Edward A Payne, Jr. and Ronald L. “Ron” Smith, and Alex W. Bessette is unopposed for a Town Council seat.

Everyone else will notice 6 Presidential candidates… with 1 Green, 1 Libertarian, and 2 Independents joining Republican and Democrat nominees. There’s the U.S. Senate race with Republican Hung Cao challenging incumbent Democrat Tim Kaine… and the 5th District Congressional race with Republican John McGuire — who beat incumbent Bob Good in June’s primary — and Democrat Gloria Wilt.
