Janet P. Ritz, 93, passed away on September 12, 2024. She was born on April 23, 1931, to the late Jesse and Lula Pultz. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three husbands: Robert E. Jones, James C. Ritz, and Tommy Aldrige; her children: Robert Moore, Steven Jones, Michael Ritz, and Catharine “Lolly” Ritz as well as a great-granddaughter; Arden Wood.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Jones, Patty McNamee, and Mary L. Ritz, along with her grand- and great-grandchildren.
Janet began her career in nursing at a young age when her twin sister Jean returned home for a visit and let her sister try on her uniform. Always caring, she worked a number of positions in nursing including the Blue Ridge Sanitarium, UVA, and private care.
She loved her family, her friends and all animals, especially her favorite dogs; Swifty, Molly, and recently Daisy Mae Marie.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Janet’s loving caregivers Henrietta Jett, Rachael Brant and Destiny Bolden as well as Dr. Dobson and the whole team at Hospice of the Piedmont, with a special thanks to Stacy for making one of Janet’s dreams come true.
