CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia Football had a good crowd, momentum and energy heading into the matchup with formal conference rival Maryland.  The first half certainly had Cavalier fans excited as Virginia demonstrated an ability to move the football but there were multiple times when the Hoos got to the red zone and couldn’t produce touchdowns.  The missed opportunities would prove to be costly, because after a spectacular touchdown run by quarterback Anthony Colandrea at the end of the first half gave Virginia a 13-7 halftime lead, they would not score again in the game.  Maryland dominated the second half, outscoring Virginia 20-0 and holding Virginia to 82 yards in the second half and ultimately losing 27-13.  Afterwards Tony Elliott spoke with the Virginia Sports Radio Network.

Now Virginia will head back to the road to face Coastal Carolina who is 3-0 and averaging 251 yards per game on the ground.  It’s also a big promotional weekend in Conway, S.C. for the game so it should be a tough road environment for the Hoos.  You can hear more from Tony Elliott Tuesday evening on WINA on the Coach’s Corner program, and the Best Seat in the House is live all week from 5-7p.m. taking your phone calls at (434) 977-1070.
