ROANOKE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia House Committee on Education Chairman Delegate Sam Rasoul of Roanoke and members of the Joint Subcommittee to Study Elementary & Secondary Education Funding has started a formal public comment period regarding K-12 funding. A committee release says public comments will be heard and reviewed by the membership of the Joint Subcommittee to Study Elementary & Secondary Education Funding. The joint subcommittee is comprised of five Delegates and five Senators appointed by Speaker Don Scott.
“Equitable funding for our Commonwealth’s public schools is essential to student success,” said Delegate Rasoul, “We need to ensure that we are transparent in our decision-making and create an inclusive environment for public input on the K-12 funding formula. It’s time to figure out how we are going to close the funding gap between our schools.”
The public comment period is open through September 20th, 2024. The Joint Subcommittee will have its inaugural meeting on September 16th. Click here to submit your public comment.
