CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville police had to deal with four shooting incidents in five hours on Monday night.
The first happened at 7:01 p.m. Officers sent to respond to shots fired in the area of 2nd St SE and Monticello Ave for shots being fired arrived to find shell casings and parked vehicles that had been struck but, so far, no reports of injuries. Monticello had to be shut down from 2nd St SE to 6TH St SE for more than 2 hours. Charlottesville Ballet, meanwhile, was put into lockdown.
At 10:21, officers responded to shots fired call in the area of Michie Dr. No injuries are reported but one unoccupied building was struck.
Eight minutes later, shots were fired in the area of Hardy Drive. No injuries occurred, but nothing else is confirmed.
Then at 12:07 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Lankford Ave and South 1st St for multiple reports of shots being fired with casings located on the road. So far, no reports of injuries or struck objects. South First St. had to shut down for more than an hour between Elliot Ave and Lankford Ave while officers investigated.
It is not known if any of the incidents are related. The Charlottesville Police Department has not indicated that any suspects were apprehended.
