CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A neighborhood dispute in Batesville escalated into an eight-hour standoff on Wednesday. Albemarle County Police were called to Heartwood Road after 73-year-old Craig Thomson Handley allegedly fired a gun during an argument with a neighbor.
Handley reportedly struck a parked vehicle with his ATV before retreating to his home, where police say he refused to cooperate for several hours. Eventually, he was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.
Handley faces several charges, including reckless handling of a firearm, attempted malicious wounding, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and hit and run. He is currently being held at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
