KESWICK (WINA) – A huge celebration Wednesday night at the Southwest Mountain Vineyards in Keswick after Wine Enthusiast magazine named the Monticello Wine Trail Viticultural Area the 2023 “Top Wine Region” in the world. The selection was made over finalists Provence, France; Lambrusco, Italy; Swartland, South Africa; and Victoria, Australia.

The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau made the announcement and celebrated at Southwest Mountain with wines from 22 of the 40 wineries on the trail, and state agriculture Secretary Matthew Lohr reading a proclamation on behalf of Governor Youngkin.

According to the CACVB, “Wine Enthusiast’s executive media team made its winning selections based on many factors, including impact on consumers and trade in the wine space, company or brand vision, and trendsetting. The Wine Star Awards celebrate the innovation of individuals and entities that have significantly contributed to the success of the wine and alcoholic beverage world.”
